Monthly Makeup

Welcome back to my blog! For this week’s post I wanna talk about Beauty Subscription boxes! This week's post may appeal to those who are into makeup, learning how to use makeup, or just wanna hear what I think of monthly subscription boxes!

Nowadays there's a lot of subscription boxes a lot of people can sign up for, we have boxes for books, mens shaving, candy, or even anime related boxes, there is at least one thing for someone. I am subscribed to Ipsy, after creating an account you will answer questions about your skin, hair, knowledge with makeup, and items you use daily. Based on your answer they will be able to curate items to your needs and will ship out items for you to try or items they know you are a fan of! Ipsy provides three membership tiers their customers can choose from. The cheapest option starts out at $12 a month, you get a small makeup bag each month with 4-6 travel size items, ranging from makeup items to fragrances, and items for your hair. This option allows the customer to try out new things they probably have not used before and may encourage them to buy the bigger version. The second tier is the Glam Bag Plus, you receive a medium size makeup bag with 5 deluxe size items for $25 a month, you will receive the same categories of items just like the first tier but bigger! The last tier you can subscribe to is the Glam Bag X, on top of the two other tiers you’ll receive the Glam Bag X is a box filled with items chosen by the celebrity of the month they collaborate with, but this box is only shipped out every 4 months, and this is an additional $50.

I am subscribed to the Glam Bag Plus and receive the mini bag of travel size items along with the other medium makeup bag with 5 deluxe size items. I have been subscribed to Ipsy for about 5 months now, I am only billed $40 a month and for the amount of items and the sizes of the items I receive, I think it is worth my money. The great thing about this as well is that if you choose to skip a month you can always pause your membership, you won’t get charged and you can always resume whenever you want to!

What do I think about the Ipsy subscription boxes? I think it’s worth a try to join if you haven’t subscribed to any makeup boxes and want to try it. Like I mentioned you can always pause your membership and come back whenever. I think it’s a great way for me to get introduced to new products and brands when getting the larger bag, it is always a surprise to me and I get very excited to see what 5 deluxe items I will get every month. The bags that carry the items are also very cute so on top of the new items I get, I also get new makeup bags I can use for basically anything. Will I ever subscribe to the Glam Bag X though? At the moment I won’t only for the sake of the total price I will be paying overall, but maybe in the future I’ll subscribe if an artist or celebrity I am a huge fan of will collaborate with Ipsy.

  1. Hi Zelle! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post, it is very informative! As someone who is fairly new to the world of makeup, I always get so nervous when deciding which cosmetic brand to buy, especially since the full-size bottle of certain products can be so expensive. I have heard of Ipsy before, but I have never considered or looked into it. After reading your post, however, I think I might! I really like the idea that you get to try out so many different products every month. Being able to pause your subscription whenever also seems super convenient! I think this subscription box would be such a great, and affordable way for me to explore my cosmetics options. Thank you for this helpful post!

  2. Hi Zelle!
I was intrigued with your post because I love makeup as well however, I have never had a monthly beauty subscription. After reading your blog post I will definitely be considering in joining one of the subscriptions. As a college student , its hard financially to be keeping up with all the new makeup and the trends that come along with it. Or saving up to buy new makeup and then regretting or not liking it. So thank you for sharing your experience with Ipsy because I think its a great way to try new stuff without having to buy full sized items. Will definitely look into it!
