Wanna Game?

    Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog, “What Zelle Thinks”. In my previous blog I jumped right into what I felt at the moment was best to write about, I had forgotten to introduce myself! My name is Zelle and this blog will consist of my opinions or thoughts on certain topics, whether it be about music, movies or television shows, or even my hobbies and interests as well. For this week's blog post I want to talk about Gaming.

    Just as of lately I have taken interest in watching Twitch streamers playing games live for their followers and Youtubers posting their gameplay videos. Since I was a little girl I remember being gifted new gaming consoles each time they were released, I had played a lot of games but gradually as I got older I lost interest in gaming in general. I want to say it’s because I no longer own any consoles to play on, I am very picky with games, and sometimes I get super impatient and lose focus and interest once I do feel this way when playing. But like I mentioned I started watching these streamers and youtubers and it made me want to play the games they were playing! Although I have been watching just one specific genre of games they are playing, I took a look around the platform where they purchase games from, which is from the platform Steam, and I am now open to playing new types of games! Now that I have shown interest, where do I start? 

    With no consoles of my own to play on I decided to look into purchasing a gaming system, thankfully my boyfriend is a gamer himself and knows what to get and what to avoid, I turn to him for advice! After doing my own research I learned that there is a lot of money involved when it comes to a gaming system, like I am talking 700-1000+ dollars just for a desktop, which to me is ridiculous! The other items needed like; a keyboard, a mouse, headphones, and a decent monitor are more so on the affordable side, the monitor can also become pricey depending on what you want. 

    You may be asking yourself now, “Well so what does Zelle think about this?”I have a few things to share! I think it is awesome that I am returning back to a childhood hobby of mine and finding a hobby I can turn to after a long day from work or from school. I think the price of starting this new hobby is ridiculously pricey and will take some time for me to save up for one of the main items before being able to start gaming. Other than the price I am excited to start gaming again and hope to purchase the materials on sale so I could start sooner rather than later!

    Hello Zelle! Even though I am not a gamer myself, I really enjoyed reading your post and hearing about finding reigniting your spark interest in gaming again. I also have a boyfriend who loves to game and has his own gaming system too, which is why I found your post to be relatable. When I found out how expensive it was, I was super shocked as well. However, I feel like if it is something that brings you joy and is a stress reliever then its definitely worth the investment that is put into it. I hope you are able to save up and build your gaming setup soon!

    Zelle, I totally relate to feeling overwhelmed by how expensive gaming equipment can be! I'm a fan of Nintendo consoles, but I gave up purchasing them after the Wii U because they replace the console every few years anyway. It can be a pretty expensive hobby, but super fun and worth it if you really love it. I've been playing mobile games to fill that controller shaped hole in my heart, but it can be difficult to find decent ones that aren't riddled with ads. All that aside, it is wonderful that you're revisiting a childhood hobby that you love! Wishing you the best of luck on your gaming journey!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall Semester!

    As we reach an end to our summer course I am now preparing myself for my senior year at SDSU. Although in the spring it will be a year I became an Aztec, I wish I was able to spend more time on campus. I feel like after transferring from Miramar I made it a goal to graduate as soon as I could, and while I am on the path to accomplish that I feel like I have not been able to fully enjoy my school outside of classes.      My fall semester will be jam packed again with 18 units, just like my first semester at SDSU I will be taking another 6 classes. Last semester I ended with a 3.4, this summer if I get an A in this class I will have achieved a 4.0 this semester, my goal next semester is to do better than a 3.4, hopefully strive for a 3.8 or 4.0. I feel like it will be a challenge considering the classes I will be taking, but at the same time I am excited, I like a challenge when it comes to school.
